CLEVELAND'S DOWNTOWN LAKEFRONT PLAN

On April 20, 2012 the City Planning Commission approved the Cleveland Downtown Lakefront Plan to guide mixed-use commercial development of the waterfront between West 3rd and East 18th Streets.  Specifically, it proposes redevelopment strategies for three areas of the downtown lakefront: 

  1. Harbor West as a new mixed-use commercial development between Erieside Avenue and the water’s edge north of Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Great Lakes Science Center;
  2. North Coast Harbor infill development including new commercial development along new arcades and walkways connecting the Stadium, the Science Center and the Rock Hall with the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center to the south as well as development as the Erie Street Festival Pier north of Erieside Avenue with seasonal and year-round attractions; and
  3. Burke Development District offering a unique office campus setting between East 9th and East 18th Streets linked to the general aviation services provided at Burke Lakefront Airport
