Biography:  
  Earl John Andrews was born in Wilmington, Ohio on November 16, 1882. A Quaker, he was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Ohio State University class of 1904. While at Ohio State he spent summers apprenticing as a carpenter. He then went on to New York Technical School. He worked for the firm of Andrews and White in New York City for eighteen months. In late 1905 he established a business in Cleveland. According to his biography in "Avery," he was the first Cleveland architect to dispense with sub-contractors. He built 100 high-grade homes in the Wade Park allotment. He was a member of the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, the Cleveland Builder's Exchange, the Civic League, the Shaker Heights Country Club, the Willowick Country Club, the Cleveland Athletic Club, the Cleveland Manufacturer's Club, and the Cleveland Automobile Club, and was an honorary member of the Tippecanoe Club. He was also a member of the Woodward Lodge of the Masons. He lived at 2170 South Overlook in Cleveland Heights, and later at 1878 East 90th Street. He died on January 12, 1938 and is buried at Acadia Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
