Project Information

Southeast Case #  SE 2017-007

Address: 9801 Buckeye Road
Company: NEORSD
Architect: tbd
Description:

The Sewer District plans to construct a green infrastructure (GI) project containing underground stormwater

detention at the intersection of Buckeye Road and Shaker Boulevard and large-scale green infrastructure

stormwater detention basins at East 99th Street, East 100th Street, East 102nd Street and East 104th Street and

Buckeye Road intersections. This $3.4 million (revised estimate, 1/17) project is designed to capture

stormwater, before it enters the combined sewer system, and prevent 0.7 million gallons (revised estimate, 1/17)

of combined sewage from discharging into the Doan Valley Tunnel System annually.

The Sewer District, as part of its Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Consent Decree with the U.S.

Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), will

construct and install GI control measures in addition to required gray infrastructure to further reduce combined

sewer overflows within its combined sewer service area, which includes the majority of the City of Cleveland.

Appendix 3 of the District’s CSO Consent Decree describes the GI requirement which mandates that the

District capture at least 44 million gallons of additional CSO annually and spend at least $42 million on GI

projects.
