Committee asked applicant to explore the relocation of building identity signage to within the gable area above the main store entrance. This would eliminate the need to paint the facade w/the O'Reilly red color. It would also allow for future inclusion of signage placement over the secondary retail unit's entrance and provide for visual balance along the facade. Alternately, if O'Reilly plans to occupy the building's entire 13,000+ s.f., the red signage panel should be limited or eliminated totally to permit the placement of channel letter signage centered on the building's sign band, per the example of the standard O'Reilly sign presented. Effort should be made to eliminate or minimize the remaining Walgreen's two "wagon wheel" facade features located on the Clark Ave. elevation thru the use of paint or other materials/methods. Also, the Committee recommends against the use of rolling shutters for main entrance security. In its place, the substitution of improved lighting or an internal security gate was suggested. |
