Project details presented by Kevin Robinette and Julie Criscione. The goal is to provide a shelter for the current Gateway 105 Market activities year round. The structure will be demountable and relocated to the St. Mark’s church site in 2-3 years. Structure will be flexible enough to hold fitness classes, demonstrations, and market/vendor stalls. Support services will be located at the rear of the market.
Committee Comments, Concerns, Questions · Where is the parking for the proposed market? At the St. Mark’s church and the off-street parking south of the site. · There are two design concepts being considered, the greenhouse vs. the pole barn. Both concepts are meant to be open with sliding doors and support services in the rear. · Can the structure be located closer to the street for more visibility? The Commttee would like to see it closer to the corner with less lawn so that you can use the rear spaces for a courtyard or orchard. Can also provide more staging area for the vendors. · Where will the support services go? The red trailers will have bathrooms, demo kitchens, vendor spaces, etc. · Will the restrooms be tanks or have an actual sanitary connection? The development team would like to provide a sanitary connections if budget allows. · What is the capacity of the open space in the structure for vendors? Can you consider allowing vendor spaces on the outside of the structure? · The color of the support structures may need to be toned down so that the focus is on the vendor space. · What is the air circulation? Exhaust fans suggested, but this may not be sufficient for the produce. Please consider using mobile coolers instead as well. · How will the trash be handled? · Where will the vendors park their trucks? How are they parking at the current market? · Where are the man doors located, should they be highlighted in some way? Two being proposed on the south elevation of the building. · Can the gable structure be raised to make the building more inviting and add light? · Consider extending the roof eaves to provide more shelter from weather and allow more covered vendor space or perhaps retractable awnings.
Veronica Walton, manager for the current Gateway 105 Market, is available for comment and questions. Shawn Banks with Brigidaire construction also available for comment and questions.
