Committee Concerns

  • Should the monument sign be located closer to 79th St if the building has been redesigned?
  • Will there be visibility issues with the "Cleveland Metropolitan School District" on the monument sign? Should it be removed it it can't be seen/read clearly?
  • Can the proportion be similar to Sign 3?
  • Why the arrow on Sign 3, it takes away from the design?

Motion to approve the sign package with the provision that there is (1) a ground mounted sign in the rear, (2) the relationship to "Cleveland Metropolitan School District" is revisted, and (3) the arrow be removed.  Applicant to submit revised plans for administrative review.

Committee Concerns

  • Suggestion to rotate the bus parking and dumpster 90 degrees so that it runs parallel to e. 79th.
  • Decker is now a 2-way street, can the buses stack on Decker?
  • What are the plantings for the retention basin?  Currently wild growth, but CMSD will use the site and plantings for student enrichment and curriculum.
  • CMSD is looking to acquire and demolish abandoned residential homes on Decker and use for institutional purposes.
  • Intend to install a new 6' galvanized chainlink fence with vinyl cladding for security.

CM Dow in attendance, appreciated some of the suggestions the DRC are recommending.  Cm Dow would like to submit a letter of support at a later date if the design issues are addressed.

Motion to table with the requirement to revisit the dumpster location, bus parking, and ground cover plantings.
