Committee Concerns
· Who owns the property? · This property for demolition is not in the master plan that was previously approved. · What are the plans for this lot in relation to the master plan? · Are we going to end up with parking at this corner? There are controls in place to plan for additional parking and there aren’t any specific plans for this property yet. · Tom Veider’s opinion is read into the record. Does the CDC support the demo? James Amendola (SCDC) says they are in support of the demo. · What is the masterplan for the area? How do we ensure that Family Dollar/Dollar General does not then purchase the lot from St. Martin? · What do we know about the history of the structure? By whom and for what? · Why tear it down now, can wait till they have specific plans for the property because we are going to end up with a vacant lot for an undetermined amount of time. · What about the pink building adjacent to the proposed demolition? Would SMDP be interested in this kind of land assembly? Applicants asks to table the discussion. Move to table the discussion on the demolition. Unanimously voted to table. |
