Committee Actions/Submissions

Date: March 28, 2019
Committee: Staff
Action Type: Initial Plan Submission
Conditions/Notes:

Date: April 4, 2019
Committee: Local Design Review Committee
Action Type: Conceptual Approval
Conditions:

1)     Committee thought it was a great sculpture and liked the fact that they were doing flattened up lighting between the concave structures to highlight the work but also to ensure the lights are not a tripping hazard.

2)      Concerned with pole box located behind sculpture and the entrance

3)       The Oval Pad does not seem to fit here as the building is made of lots of angular sides (rectangles, triangles) Oval does not seem to fit.

4)      Committee questioned whether they even needed a base as it detracted from the sculpture itself

5)       Suggestion to eliminate grass and gray oval and just expand brick pavers to appear more like a plaza of sorts

6)      One member brought up the proximity of an interactive art piece turned play area geared towards children being so close to the RTA Bus Stop/Street

7)       Concerned with size of perforations and if children can get their fingers stuck

8)     Concerned with the inaccessibility of adults to maneuver should kids have an emergency between the poles

9)      One Committee Member suggested breaking up the piece with a path in the middle to be more inclusive of children in wheel chairs that may also want to interact with the artwork.  At the current set up, member feels as though the artwork is being exclusive and not inclusive to children with disabilities.

10)   Concerns with how well the materials of the sculpture hold up in Cleveland weather conditions and if such weather because the art work to fade or become damaged within 2-5 years.
