CERTIFICATES OF APPROPRIATENESS

BROADWAY HISTORIC DISTRICT – COLUMBIA BUILDING – 5501 BROADWAY Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the storefront renovation of the Columbia Building. Plans call for the removal of materials covering the storefront system, the restoration of display windows and entrances, chemical cleaning of brick, window repair, the installation of decorative lights, and the installation of new tenant signage. Paint colors will include Roycroft Bottle Green (SW 2847) for windows and entrance, Golden Oak SW 2824 for the front door, and metal window divisions finished in Light Bronze.

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Broadway Design Review Committee will meet on Tuesday – October 12, 2004.

LORAIN STATION HISTORIC DISTRICT – 10134 LORAIN AVENUE Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the installation of signs for West Side Medical and Therapy Center. The proposal includes a sign for “West Side Medical and Therapy Center”, signs in the transom for “Worker’s Comp Personal Injury”, “Medicaid and Medicare” and phone number.

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Lorain Station Design Review Committee and Landmarks Commission staff recommend against approval of the signs, as proposed. As proposed there will be signs that include phone number, and a menu of services that are offered.

DETROIT – SUPERIOR BRIDGE – BUILDING GARAGE - DETROIT AVENUE Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for cleaning, stone repair and tuck - pointing of the Detroit Superior Bridge Garage building.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of the cleaning and tuck - pointing as proposed.
